Treatment plans change. Goals develop, interventions shift, and a review can lead to a different direction.
Your documentation needs to accommodate those changes while preserving the plan that was signed.
Practice Pad 1.3.1 brings that workflow into focus: signed treatment and safety plans lock against content edits, revisions become new dated versions, and overdue plans appear together on Home. The update also expands treatment-plan PDF sharing and improves several everyday documentation tasks.
Sign the plan. Preserve that version.
With the new signing workflow, signing a treatment or safety plan locks its content.
When changes are needed, Revise creates a new dated version. The existing content carries forward so you have a starting point, while the signature fields are cleared for the new version.
The previously signed version remains available in plan history. You can update the current plan while retaining the earlier signed version for reference.
The new signing and versioning behavior applies going forward; the update does not reconstruct missing historical signatures or retroactively rewrite older records.
Find plans that need review
A new Plans Due for Review section on Home brings overdue treatment and safety plans into one list.
The list groups plans by client and puts the most overdue first. If both documents need review for a client, both are identified.
Treatment plans also have updated review-date behavior. When you retain the default, the review date is anchored to 90 days from signing. If you choose a different date, Practice Pad respects that choice.
The 90-day date is an app default. Your clinical judgment and applicable requirements determine the review schedule for your practice. Safety plans retain their separate review tracking.
View and share previous versions
Sometimes you need the earlier plan: to review its goals, compare it with the current version, or provide a copy.
Plan history now includes View PDF and Share actions for previous versions. You can open a version within the app or share its PDF.
For newly captured signatures, the stored signature is used when the PDF is generated again. Updating your Therapist Profile signature later does not replace the signature already captured on that plan.
Share treatment-plan PDFs on every tier
In 1.3.0, Secure gained local treatment planning and PDF sharing. Version 1.3.1 makes Share PDF available across subscription tiers.
Create or update the plan, save your changes, and export a PDF directly from Practice Pad.
The separate treatment-plan Google Doc workflow has been removed. PDF sharing now provides a consistent way to export the current saved plan whether you use Secure or Cloud.
One client signature for a safety plan
Safety-plan signing now uses one client-signature workflow on every tier.
Secure saves the signed plan locally. Cloud saves the signature and locked plan before attempting the Drive upload.
If that upload fails, the signature remains saved, and you can retry the upload without asking the client to sign the same version again.
The update also improves how typed safety-plan list entries are committed during saving, signing, navigating away, and sharing.
Improvements to the steps you repeat every day
Several additional changes support everyday documentation:
- Preview your signature before signing a session note. Practice Pad uses your current Therapist Profile signature, with the older saved signature available as a fallback.
- Preserve content when changing note templates. Fixes address carried-over text, checkbox selections, omitted sections, and stale content in exports.
- See more consistent sync information. Home, the sync badge, and the status screen update together. Session ledger entries are processed in the same sync pass as the upload.
- Understand calendar refresh failures. Failed refreshes are surfaced while cached information is preserved. Selecting no calendars means none are shown.
- Update your profile more reliably. Saving a signature no longer replaces other Therapist Profile fields.
These changes complement the larger plan-management update by improving the steps between writing, reviewing, signing, and sharing.
